Management Team

John J. Booth, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member,  has been a board member of Spineology since its inception and was named CEO in September 2004. Prior to joining Spineology, Mr. Booth held various executive level positions at Phillips Plastics Corporation, serving as CEO from June of 2001 to December 2002. Mr. Booth was CEO of Microvena Corporation from 1999 to 2001 and CEO of Phillips Origen Group Division from 1998 to 1999.  He has held various positions in both financial and general management in the medical technology industry since 1981. Mr. Booth received a BS degree in accounting from Villanova University and an MBA from Seton Hall University.

Daniel D. McPhillips, Vice President of Marketing and Education, joined Spineology in 2000. Mr. McPhillips has been in the spine industry since 1989 and has a long history of involvement with innovative emerging spinal technologies. Prior to Spineology, he held a group directorship role at Spine-Tech (now Zimmer Spine), where he had a significant role in expanding the product portfolio to include cervical products, pedicle screws, hemostatic sealants and grafting products. While at Spine-Tech, Mr. McPhillips was a trainer and recruiter for the BAK IDE clinical trial and was the product manager for the initial BAK launch team.   Mr. McPhillips holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. 

Karen M. Roche, Vice President of Operations and Technology, has been involved with Spineology since its inception, bringing over 20 years of experience in the orthopedic device industry. Prior to joining Spineology Inc., Ms. Roche provided technical leadership for Spineology Group at the start of the Spineology/Phillips joint venture. In 1992, Ms. Roche designed and developed the CarboJet Lavage System, a product licensed to Zimmer for use in total joint replacement procedures.  Ms. Roche earned a mechanical engineering degree from Michigan State University. 

Timothy R. Walnofer, Vice President of U.S. Sales, joined Spineology in 2008. Mr. Walnofer began his career with Ethicon-Endo Surgery in 1997. Since 2000, his spine experience has been solely in emerging technologies. He has held sales and sales management roles at both Kyphon Inc. and Trans1 Inc., helping both successfully move from early-stage commercialization to initial public offering. Mr. Walnofer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. 

Dan Walsh, Vice President of Finance and Administration, joined Spineology in February 2012.  Mr. Walsh has over 20 years of financial management experience in a variety of manufacturing industries, most recently in the medical components industry.  Mr. Walsh came to Spineology from Heraeus Medical, where he served as Vice President of Finance since 2008.  Mr. Walsh began his career in Public Accounting after graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA degree in accounting and a Master’s of Business Taxation  from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business.
